I pedaled for nine hours on Saturday.
There was a good reason for that nuttiness. We are in the midst of a 3-week bike Challenge for Biscay Coaching, and Saturday was the “Most miles in a day” day.
"Big T" and "Big Red" Moments after our first real ride together.
I rode the first 130 miles over seven hours on my new Dimond bike, Big Red, and then two hours later that night on the trusty Trek on my Trainer. I have an old school trainer, no Make Believe riding for me, in fact the Garmin I use for it is acting up, so I don’t have a mileage count, but I think 30+ miles over two hours is a safe bet. Therefore, let’s assume I rode 160 miles on Saturday.
Dang.
Thankfully, I did have a “REST” day Sunday.
Since Marion is working 6-day weeks, he requested that I take Sundays off from, “away from the house all-day training sessions” until his project wraps later this month. Naturally, I agreed to that civilized/romantic request. In fact, it’s nice to have a whole day to spend together, but I usually get ornery after 11A, so it might ultimately backfire on him. However, I was happy to have ALL-DAY off of my legs on Sunday, they earned a break.
Actually, they still might need some time off.
In related news, my kryptonite is back. It is HOT in Los Angeles, AGAIN. Mid - high 90’s F temps are in the forecast all week. I swam and rode yesterday, (Monday), and felt terrible. My legs are no doubt the strongest they have ever been, but they're tired.
What a blessing!
I will take fatigue over pain any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. (Shout out to Aaron Sorkin).
Morning mobility work moments ago.
I have an iron(WO)man to race in less than four weeks, a lot of training sessions between now and then, AND a very cool ALL-DAY event for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, (CAF), that I am taking part in alongside my friend and teammate, Lynne Fiedler this Saturday.
In the meantime, I am going to fire up my Hypervolt, fill up my Jeep with gas and my water bottles with NUUN, and then chase cooler climates to swim, bike, and run all over Southern California this week.
For more information about my DIY iron(WO)man event, Taryn’s Iron Journey From The Valley To The Sea, benefitting Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research on November, 8th, CLICK HERE.
The song and video choice this week is a real treat, and the runner-up name for Big Red.:)
