It’s the first Tuesday of 2022, and as such I wanted to check in to say ‘hi”, but also duck out early because I am feeling a tremendous amount of COVID fatigue, and I need a minute to settle down, gather myself, and rally ASAP. Also, this date in history, 1/4/1990 to be exact, was the worst day of my life, and I can never truly kick off the “New” year until I make it to the other side of it.
Just to confirm, I do not have Omicron, but I expect to at some point seeing as how even the vaccinated, healthy, and careful are poppin’ up positive left and right these days, so… I hope to chime back in next week with an upbeat attitude and announce my *tentative/COVID pending* 2022 Race/DIY Event schedule, but with my current jaded point of view, that all seems like a tease.
Nevertheless, even though this post reeks of a Debbie-Downer vibe, I will share that I do have a glint of the “New Year/Fresh Start” spirit, because my desk is clean and organized, my brand new (forced purchased) Wahoo Kickr is nearly assembled and will *hopefully* commence its maiden ride shortly after I hit publish, and I finished reading my first book of the year this morning, Unbound by Tarana Burke.
It’s amazing.
Also, I am slightly taken aback that I have been at this #newblogtuesday game for four years. I started writing and posting every Tuesday in January 2018, originally just going for a year of consistent weekly writing and posting, but here we are, 208 weeks later. For those of you diligent and loyal readers, I cannot thank you enough for following along and supporting my story all of these weeks/years, and although I realize posts like this one are not what you signed up for (especially my subscribers, who literally signed up to receive my weekly email) I want to remain transparent and honest, and this is where I am today, frustrated, but confident I’ll bounce out of my, “Is this ever gonna end-DEMIC?” funk soon.
Along with the song and video choice this week, I invite you to grab a listen to the new single, Friday Night, by the young, popular punk band, Full Throttle, out of London, Ontario.
Also, this COVID-themed episode from Dr. Peter Attia’s podcast, The Drive, was both enlightening and encouraging.
And finally, the song and video choice this week is a hit from one of my favorite artist’s, India Arie, Video.
