Following is a dalliance of prose that may lack inspiration but makes up for with information.
Here we GO!
First up, my husband Marion is home from his gig working up in Vancouver, Canada the last couple of months VFX supervising the reshoots for the Netflix show, Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The good news is that Marion was asked to extend his time on that show until it delivers, and since it posts in LA, he’ll be working mostly from home for the next year or so, AKA, we don't have to move to New Mexico! The not-so good news is that due to the over-lapping schedules, he will most likely not be working on Stranger Things, Season 5.
Whomp, whomp.
Next, my wonky left leg issue I wrote about last week has dissipated, which means I am currently able to ride and run pain-free! I give full credit to my massage therapist, water and electrolytes, and a short, but vital weighted-vest power hike/stair session that my coach gifted me last Sunday.
Finally, it is Ironman World Championship week in Kona, HI!
This year is TRULY one for the history books because it is the first time the race has been allowed to happen on the Big Island since pre-COVID times in 2019, there will be TWO days of racing, Thursday, where 50 pro women, all age group women, and some age group men will be racing, and another race on Saturday where the 50 pro men, and remaining age group men will be racing.
I have mixed feelings about the structure of the event.
I am thrilled it is happening, and that FINALLY the pro women have equal slots as the pro men, but there will be a massive influx of people (more than twice as many as usual) descending on the gorgeous/quaint town of Kona, so I hope every triathlete (and supporter) respects their role as a guest and stays safe.
Personally, racing the Ironman World Championships in Kona has never been my end all be all goal in triathlon, but it certainly is a magical place to race, and I am still amazed that I had the opportunity to do so four years ago. Of course, I would love to race there again someday (enough time has passed for the disappointment from that day to have finally faded) if the stars align and I earn a qualifying slot, but for now I am perfectly content observing it all from the mainland in my hovel of training for Ironman Arizona.
Most of all, I CANNOT wait to geek out watching BOTH races on Thursday and Saturday, cheering on my friends and the pros as they finally get the chance to throw down after three years away from the BIG Dance.
Following are my podium picks:
PRO Women:
Lucy Charles-Barkley
Daniel Ryf
Anne Haug
Pro Men:
Gustav Iden
Patrick Lange
Tim O’Donnell
AG Women 60-64:
Lynne Fiedler :)
Finally, the fifth Season of Cobra Kai was outstanding, I officially got into the Boston Marathon, and since I just finished book #74 of the year, I should be on pace to read 100 books by January 1st. Yowza.
**Please Note: September book Review will be posted later this week.:) TBD on Wednesday or Thursday because tomorrow, (Wednesday), is a massive training day.
The song and video choice this week is the new, catchy single from John Legend, All She Wanna Do. You’ll want to watch the ENTIRE video to really feel its full effect.
