This time next year, I have no idea where I will be in the world. I could be typing from Atlanta, Budapest, Albuquerque, one of the islands in New Zealand, Vancouver, Los Angeles, or, etc. The mystery is equally intriguing and stressful, but that’s show business!
Regardless of what project Marion moves onto once the last two episodes of Stranger Things, Season 4 is delivered at the end of June, (they are both still very much in progress), I will be in California until the end of 2022 due to a hefty Fall season of racing I do not want to miss, (and have already paid for), but it’s looking like I should have my passport renewed by January.
Honestly, I crave this sort of timeline. It’s invigorating to know that I only have a handful of months to reach my goals before the cliff drops off. Moreover, I have no idea what sort of environment I’ll be able to train in the first half of 2023, so it is futile to even think about it right now, (or set any goals beyond 2022), especially when I have an exceptional training environment at my fingertips between now and December 4th, (the last race on my calendar). Alas, with Ironman St. George safely in my rear-view mirror, (I finished it one month ago today), it is time to switch burners from simmer to sizzle.
Next up, a looong training/crew weekend in Flagstaff, AZ this upcoming weekend supporting my friend and teammate, Heidi Videto, who is in the thick of preparing for her 500 mile in 36-hour bike attempt on Washington Island, WI at the end of July. My plan is to ride as long as I can on Saturday, which hopefully coincides with punching up my longest ride to date, 180 miles, and then meet up with Lionel Sanders, and/or Steph Bruce for a run on Sunday morning (wink, wink) before closing out some miles on the bike with Heidi and my fellow “500 Project” crew member, Jess Zaiss. Yes, I am aware Flagstaff hovers around 7,500ft., and I am sitting close to sea level right now, so… please send positive vibes to our lungs this weekend!
Speaking of lung busting activities, I need to make my way to the pool, but before I go, I want to challenge all of you to choose a goal that you want to achieve before the end of 2022. To help up the ante, pretend you’re in my shoes, that there is no guarantee to pursue it in 2023, so put in motion what it takes to achieve it NOW!
The song and video choice this week is one of my favorite Summer anthems, and a Mariah Carey classic. Enjoy.:)
