“Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, We will fall!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.”
― Guillaume Apollinaire
I first saw this poem next to my wise and dashing brother, Tim’s tuxedoed photo in the Claremont High School yearbook from 1990. He chose it as his “Senior Quote”, a profound and baffling decision to me at the time, (I was ten years old, and simply didn’t get it), but over thirty years later, I not only get it, but live it everyday.
This is the part of our relationship when I reveal that I just wrote A LOT of wonderful feelings wrapped up in words that I believe you will enjoy, (and might even make a positive impact in the world), but after an early morning phone call with my sister, Sarah, that served as an opportunity to talk out these deep and succinct emotions, I’ve decided they are better suited as the backbone for my next book rather than a blog post in May.
However, I will share that I will be going to the edge this weekend, gulp, (Biscay Coaching Training Camp) and I can’t wait to tell you about all of the wonderful ways I survived our nutty and challenging adventures next Tuesday.
Before I jump out of this chair and hop into the pool this morning, I want to share that my one of my FAVORITE meditation teachers, and the first person I hear from every single morning through his inspiring Daily Dose emails, Light Watkins, released his new book, Knowing Where To Look TODAY!
Light is amazing, he is a true light in the world, and I promise his new book will make every one of your days a little bit brighter.
Finally, the song and video choice this week is a cool song and FUN video from the group All Time Low, Once In A Lifetime.
