There was a crowd sitting in the stands,
but they weren’t cheering for me.
No one knew my name,
but they protected and encouraged me,
all the same.
I felt seen and unseen.
Aware that they were aware of my effort,
as if wearing a comforting cloak of invisibility,
grateful they allowed me to indulge undisturbed,
reacquainting with my ability.
Some shot me looks of non-caring staring,
still I fed off of their energy,
and the glorious togetherness of it all, (finally),
content that my mind, body, and soul knew exactly what to do,
and did it with zero complaints,
showing up right on cue.
My head was clear and focused,
my legs weren’t sore or strained,
my lungs flowed air freely,
my heart was pumping,
calling the shots and having fun,
but it was my soul that was making me run.
The song and video choice is a strong and strobe-y kick-off to the week, Des'ree's, You Gotta Be.
